Overall, Comcast speed tests are comparable to other cable providers. Wired connections are much faster, and it prioritizes the wired device over other “WiFi hog” devices in your home. When running a speed test on an Xfinity Performance Internet plan, you’ll only get 100% of the speed if you plug directly into the router with ethernet. This is normal - a variety of factors slow down the speed that reaches individual devices on a healthy home network, with signal fade in WiFi being the biggest issue. In general, you can expect that the speed you get on a laptop when testing your connection over WiFi will be around 10–30% below the speed of your plan. Xfinity’s “Performance” Internet service performs similarly to all other Xfinity plans in terms of how the “promised” or “advertised” speed compares to the delivered speed. What Speed Is Xfinity Performance Internet? Only professional gamers are likely to have any issue with Xfinity’s latency performance. Xfinity speed test records we’ve analyzed show that their latency is similar to other cable providers, and is good enough for the vast majority of users. Latency is not a major concern for regular activities like scrolling through Facebook or watching Hulu. You can think of it as a measurement of “lag.” Latency matters most for gaming, video chat, and other real-time activities. Latency is how long it takes for data to make the round-trip journey from your home network to a server and back again. Our Xfinity speed test tool shown above includes latency measurement. The only data going “up” will be the small requests you make while interacting with the Netflix interface, like pushing pause, selecting a film, fast forward, and etc. For example, when using Netflix to stream a film, most of the transmission of data is going from Netflix’s server down to your home network. Xfinity, like all cable Internet providers, chooses to prioritize download speeds for their customers because most users download much more content than they upload. Even using the latest DOCSIS 3.1 transmission technology, the upload speed of Xfinity speed tests will almost always be significantly lower than the download speed. These copper cable networks are older than the “fiber” networks, and have limited bandwidth compared to fiber-optic technology. Xfinity is a cable Internet provider, which means that their Internet service is provided over coaxial cable networks. ![]() Why Are Xfinity’s Upload and Download Speeds Different? 90th percentile results remove the lowest tests, which are commonly the result of test error, to provide a higher average that more closely mirrors the actual experience of Xfinity connections we’ve tested. To remedy this, the tables above show 90th percentile results in addition to raw Xfinity speed test averages. This results in lower speed averages than you are likely to experience on a properly-installed Comcast Xfinity connection. Keep in mind that these test results are run by actual users, not technicians or IT experts - because of this, our Xfinity speed test results often include home networking issues caused by user error. Xfinity speed test results shown above are based on thousands of real-world Comcast Xfinity connections. Ink reservoir is the holder of the ink that is placed in the body and connected to the tip, in order to create the writing ability of the pen. Marker caps and plugs are formed in the same manner as the barrel or the “body”. Plastic resin is injected into a cap and marker body mold to create the body and cap pieces. Injection molding involves heating the plastic resin substance into a molten state and injecting it into a mold of the desired shape, then allowing it to cool off and harden. When I watched Cabin Fever (2016) upon initial release, years after sweating out Roth’s itchy backwoods outbreak, frustration bubbled due to disparaging familiarity. “We already have Cabin Fever, do we really need another one?” In this case, based on Zariwny’s phoned-in blueprint, I have no combative retort. A black eye that justifies outraged moviegoers who foam at the mouth whenever a new remake is announced. In short, Cabin Fever 2.0 is the antithesis of remake culture. You’ll recognize just about every single narrative twist and plotted pivot because you’ve seen this movie already. Once again, Paul ( Samuel Davis) and his friends panic while quarantine protocols fail, flesh peels from muscle, and rednecks hunt the group as a means of extermination. Once again, a loner hermit contracts some flesh-eating virus that ends up tainting drinking water supplies. Once again, horned-up college students flee from civility to their cabin in the woods. A problematic ratio that brings us right back to my first question, “Why?” Zariwny’s iteration of Cabin Fever ain’t all that different from Roth’s. Roth is quoted citing “significant changes” supposedly after he screened Zariwny’s first cut, but that’s a mouthful of toxic reservoir runoff. That means the remake’s approach is quite simple: reshoot a mirror image replica. Roth agreed, attached himself as an executive producer, and thus Zariwny’s experiment in challenging remake culture was underway.Įli Roth and co-writer Randy Pearlstein retain sole scripting credits on Zariwny’s renovation. Their catch? Roth’s original script would be used once again. Are you modernizing a decades-old antique? Swapping gender perspectives? Americanizing a foreign powerhouse? Countless revisionist reasons prevail as to why filmmakers would attach themselves to yet another remake, but Travis Zariwny’s Cabin Fever (2016) will forever remain a most peculiar outlier.Īs the story goes, Eli Roth was approached by Zariwny and others with the prospect of remaking Cabin Fever. With the announcement of any remake, horror or not, follows one critical question: “Why?” I’ll never gripe a film isn’t “necessary” – no film, by definition, is “necessary” – but intentions behind remakes are massively fundamental. The good, the bad, the unnecessary – Matt’s recounting them all. ![]() We all complain about Hollywood’s lack of originality whenever studios announce new remakes, reboots, and reimaginings, but the reality?
